After a season filled with hard work, challenges, and achievements, the robotics team ViCyber #21476, from “Tudor Vianu” National College of Computer Science in Bucharest, has returned to Romania with an outstanding result: 1st place at the Canadian Rockies Premier Event, an international FIRST Tech Challenge competition held in Edmonton, Canada.

ViCyber competed alongside 48 teams from 14 countries, and the team’s performance was exceptional. The Romanian students became captains of the winning alliance and went on to win the competition, bringing home the championship trophy from the event.

In addition to their competition victory, the team also achieved 2nd place in the Inspire Award, one of the most prestigious distinctions in FIRST Tech Challenge. The award recognizes teams that stand out through both technical performance and their involvement in the community and promotion of STEM values.

The journey to Canada was made possible through the team’s hard work, but also through the support of partners who chose to invest in the passion and potential of these students. The victory in Canada comes after a strong performance at the national level. At the Romanian South Regional, ViCyber won the Control Award, one of the competition’s most important technical awards, and set a European scoring record.

Through the support they received, the students had the opportunity to take their work even further and represent Romania in Canada.

Having returned home with the championship trophy, ViCyber continues its journey with a goal that goes beyond simply winning: to inspire as many young people as possible to discover robotics, programming, and STEM fields, and to demonstrate that when passion, hard work, and support come together, a high school team from Romania can reach the international stage—and win.
